The Central Translation Bureau (CTB) is the apex organization under the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, providing professional translation services, translation training and language support to Ministries, Departments and Government organizations across India.

Established on 1 March 1971, the Central Translation Bureau functions under the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Bureau provides professional translation services, conducts translation training programmes, develops translation resources and supports Ministries and Departments in implementing the Official Language Policy.

Beginning of Translation Activities
The translation of non-statutory literature for the Government of India was initially undertaken by the Central Hindi Directorate.
Establishment of CTB
